​Mental Health Clinical Services

Child Abuse Prevention Education Services

Counseling:
The Counseling Program involves the provision of individual, marital, family and/or group therapy/counseling to address a wide range of mental health concerns.

Master’s level therapists, all of whom have advanced skills and training in family dynamics and systems interventions, provide services within this program, including Employee Assistance Program (EAP) counseling. Counseling is an invaluable resource to families and individuals in terms of need. An individualized treatment plan identifies the strengths/weaknesses and outlines treatment goals and time frames for completion of services.

To qualify for the sliding fee, a client must live or work in Bartholomew County and meet income requirements.

​No one will be denied access to services due to inability to pay; and there is a Discounted/Sliding Fee Scale available.

Family Life Education
The Comprehensive Family Life Education (FLE) program provides research-based educational curriculum in a safe classroom setting. The curriculum is designed to provide families with information and coping strategies when they are experiencing problems with parenting, going through divorce, or with anger issues in the home, school, and workplace. Our trained class facilitators are available to help participants understand and apply what they learn.

  • Postpartum Support Group:  In partnership with Columbus Regional Health, Family Service is providing a FREE support group to mothers have feelings of depression and anxiety.  It is a non-judgmental environment where women can share their thoughts and feelings, receive support from each other and receive resources.
  • Keep Connected: In partnership with FFY and Big Brothers Big Sisters Columbus we are offering a FREE group for parents and youth.  This research-centered, program gives parents and their middle school youth opportunities to explore how to strengthen their relationships through interactive activities and discussions.  Please contact Lisa Teague – lteague@familyservicebc.org to find out more or go to https://keepconnected.searchinstitute.org/.



Fee-for-Service Presentations/Workshops
Our professional staff is also available, on a fee-for-service basis, to provide educational programs to community groups, business and professionals. These programs can be individually designed and address issues such as parenting, problem-solving, communication, self-esteem and step/blended families.

Social Service Consultation
Working under specific contractual agreements, Social Service Consultation provides consulting services to individuals and organizations. Businesses, churches, schools, and daycare facilities are just a few of the organizations referring to the Social Service Consultation program. Custody evaluations are an important part of this program. Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs) are also available.

Family Service is an invaluable resource to families in times of strain and stress. In these uncertain times, Family Service is faced with unique challenges as an agency. The need for our services is growing, as families struggle with economic and emotional stress brought about by what is going on in the world around us. From marriage and divorce issues, to depression and anxiety, to parenting and personal growth issues, the needs are there and they are ever-growing.

Child Abuse Prevention (CAP)
The Child Abuse Prevention (CAP) Program strives to educate all residents of Region 14 (Bartholomew, Jackson, Johnson, Shelby and Jennings Counties) about body safety and to promote healthy alternatives and positive parenting practices.

CAP Program provides  PBIS Bully Prevention, and Play It Safe, Monique Burr school based and community presentations.
CAP program certified facilitators provide 
Darkness to Light's Stewards of Children trainings for adults 18 and older.
CAP Program is host to 
 CAP Council of Bartholomew County.




Affiliations

CAP is a chartered council of Prevent Child Abuse Indiana and is an affiliate of Prevent Child Abuse America.
April is Child Abuse Prevention month where we celebrate children and wanting them to have a carefree childhood.

Maintaining that education and early intervention with families is key to breaking the abusive cycle, the Council is committed to preventing abuse/neglect before it happens.

Family Service, Inc. is part of The Council for Youth Development (CYD) that is a Bartholomew County network that identifies, coordinates, and aligns community efforts to ensure the development of the whole child.

Family Service, Inc. is part of the communities initiate and is committed to building assets and strengths in our youth.

The Developmental Assets, designed by Search Institute, is an evidence-based approach that community partners, such as ourselves are integrating throughout Bartholomew County.  We believe everyone has an active role to play in supporting positive youth development across Bartholomew County.
